The centre-piece of the sustainable design cooking concept Flintstones is a granite slab which is used as a natural heat retainer.
Once in place on the gas stove, it absorbs the heat from the flame during the cooking process. Moments later, the stored heat can be used to fry fish and vegetables, plates can be warmed, or food and drinks kept warm. One single movable gas burner is sufficient to heat numerous hot plates. Flintstones came into being in the context of the Prix Émile Hermès competition whose theme was entitled Heat, Me-Heat, Re-Heat, and for whom we created a series of product concepts for efficient energy use.
